Jesus Is Always the Star Of The Show… Not Us!
Remember, life is not about us. It is about what Jesus has done for us on the cross. God sacrificed His son, Jesus, for us. The depths of His love for us allowed Him to do that for us. Therefore, Jesus is our EVERYTHING! We cannot not do anything without Him. Jesus sent His spirit, Holy Spirit, to be our constant help, companion, guide, comfort, and anything else we may need in this life.
Many times when we are sharing our stories about life, we make it about us. This is how Satan saddles us. Either Satan wants to lead us into a pit of self-pity over what has happened to us, or we turn how God delivered us into what we did and how we got out of it. Often, we shine the light on ourselves instead of what Jesus has done for us. Eventually, we steal God’s glory.
Pride has many faces. We have to be all so careful we do not let our pride get in our way. It often does, even when we do not realize it. As I was listening to someone the other day, they were telling me about their past and the troubles they had. They told me they were a Christian, but not once did I hear them say what God, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit had done from them. It was all about them.
This is the deception of Satan. He convinces people because they know about Christ, that they are a Christian. Dr. Charles Stanley of In Touch Ministries, often said there is a difference between knowing about Christ and having a relationship with him.
Most people make themselves idols. They constantly talk about what they have done and little to nothing about what God has done for them. It is like a litmus test. If you find yourself always talking about you and little to no mention of God and what He has done for you, you should question if you have a true intimate relationship with Him… Amen.
