Pride is one of the seven deadly sins. Some believe it is the essence of all of the other sins. Pride signals to God that we know better than He does what is best for our lives. Imagine that!
Sometimes in order for us to try to relate better to God we want to bring Him down on our level. Furthermore, we actually want to dictate to God how we want Him to move in our lives. We already have it worked out and tell God this is what we want.
God does not need us to dictate to Him how He moves on the Earth. He is holy, powerful, and just. Moreover, He is omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent. That means He is all knowing, in all places, and is all powerful. We as humans come nowhere near this.
When we operate in pride we put ourselves on the throne of our lives. Mistakenly, we believe the only time we need God is when we are “in trouble.” When actually we need him in everything… We can not breathe without Him!
God wants to do life with us. He wants a relationship and intimacy with us. Satan does not want us to enter into this relationship with God. He knows he will have no place in our lives. Further, he knows he can not wreak havoc in our lives, which he is notorious for doing.
Pride is what got Satan kicked out of heaven. His spirit is evil. He is our enemy and not our friend. When we allow him to influence our lives and give him authority, we give him permission to clobber us. We don’t realize what is happening because we are calling the shots in our lives. Instead, we should be letting God lead and guide us. If we want the abundant, victorious life God has promised us on the Earth through Jesus Christ, we have to get rid of our pride. Love & Blessings!
