When I read Psalm 46:1-2 it brings comfort to me. I believe I can live this life knowing that when I need rest I can go to God for refuge. Refuge means being safe or away from danger. I spent part of my career as a police officer and a special agent/ law enforcement officer in the military.
There were times I remember I was about to walk into possible danger. My training kicked so I would proceed with caution. Additionally, I also believed and knew I had God with me. Therefore, I did not fear. I had comfort and an indescribable peace. It was the power of the Holy Spirit that leads and guides us in ALL things.
Many times we do not want to acknowledge God in our lives. We sometimes treat Him like an afterthought. Yet, the Bible says from the rising of the sun, until the going down of the same we should be praising, honoring and acknowledging God in our lives (Psalm 113:3). I believe if this is something we practice on a daily basis we would experience more of the power of God in our lives.
Moreover, God is our present help. That brings comfort, too. So even though I knew I was walking in possible dangerous situations in my law enforcement days and even now, I believe God is my present help and He will keep danger at bay. Again, the Bible says He keeps us from danger, seen and unseen (Psalm 91: 5-6). What a magnificent God we serve!
Lastly, God is our strength. We take for granted we do everything on our own. When in fact it is the strength God gives us to do EVERYTHING we need to do. He gives us life. Further, He gives us breath. When we embrace these things of God in our lives, it is His supernatural power that embodies us that we can live this life without fear… Amen, Love & Blessings!
