Adversity Part 4: Letting God Handle It!

I can say with confidence God allowed me to go through a series of adversities in January 2026. As I shared before, January started with a bang! My luggage got lost at the airport in Germany. I missed my flight trying to get back home. I got the flu once I got home which literally put me in the bed for several days.

Once I was back on my feet, I started going to the YMCA. Water exercise is my fitness goal for 2026. I could tell immediately I was upsetting the apple cart with the head lifeguard. I was told and shown when I joined the YMCA the area of the pool I could use in the morning for my water exercises. It was the purpose I told them I was joining.

I joined the YMCA on the evening I got the flu. It was my plan to start the next morning with my water exercises. God had another plan. He allowed me to get the flu. That put me in the bed to look at the other adversities I was facing, which I have shared.

So, when I started attending the YMCA, the head lifeguard told me I could not stay in the pool because she had a class. She was a little edgy. My plan was to do an hour workout. I had thirty minutes to go. I knew what the representative told me and showed me when I joined. I mentioned that to the lifeguard and the pool schedule they gave me. She told me I could talk to the people at the front desk, but she had swimming lessons she needed to teach.

I stayed in peace. One of the swimmers started telling me sometimes the kids do not show up. Another swimmer said the lessons were only 30 minutes. I could tell the other swimmers were observing what was going on. As I shared in an earlier blog about this series on Adversities, God wants us to reflect Him in all that we do and say.

When we have intimacy with God He is able to speak to our spirit even in adversities. I continued my water exercises for the last thirty minutes. When I got out of the pool no kids had shown up. Next day, a similar scene happened. She told me about her class. Then she put a big white stand in the pool. I told her I understood and when the kids came I would get out of the pool. This time when I got out of the pool after my hour workout, two small kids showed up.

The next three days, similar scenes played out. However, the other life guards are saying and doing nice and encouraging things to me. We start wishing each other a great day when I leave. One day the kids came and I stayed at the other end of the pool. I did not want to interfere with the class. I noticed there were other swimmers who wanted to continue to stay in the pool, too. They used the other end of the pool not to interfere with the class.

God wants to take care of the adversities in our lives. When we realize life is not always about us and that God is working on ALL OF US, we can rely on God to handle our situations. He had me stay in the pool in peace. I never went to the people at the front desk to talk to them about what was going on at the pool. I remained pleasant and peaceful. God had whispered to my spirit when this started that we can coexist in the pool without it being a problem.

As God’s children, it is up to us to let His fruit show in our life. It allows the Holy Spirit to lead and guide in the way we should walk. When we do this, we know that the Spirit of the Living God is upon us. We choose to yield to His Spirit. For me, it is such a wonderful experience because I know He is present. He is working in my life, if I let Him.

It is humbling when you see God at work. I knew what He was doing in me. Since then, the relationship with the head lifeguard has been sweet! She has even, twice, offered to take my sets of water weights back to the cage when I get out of the pool. I knew that was God! He showed up in her to be kind to me.

Now the other swimmers who show up daily who witnessed all of this, have introduced themselves to me. They even wave at me and say “Hi”, “Bye” or “See you tomorrow!” This is why I say God is working on ALL OF US! It is BEAUTIFUL to see God do His work! Amen! I know this situation could have easily turned out messy had Satan gotten his claws in it. God is ALWAYS wiser. Amen. Love & Blessings!
