Adversity: God’s Opportunity To Speak!

I don’t know anyone who likes adversity. When it comes we try to hide, run, avoid, anything we can do not to have to deal with it. However, we see God time and time again use adversity to speak to his people. That includes us.

Adversity comes in many packages. It could be an illness, a setback, a loss, a nagging frustration. The list can go on and on. The bottom line is we don’t like it. As a result, we want to overcome it as soon as possible. Contrary to what we may think, God is up to something if He allowed it to enter into our life.

I have learned when adversity comes, I immediately ask God what He wants me to know in this situation. This allows me to open myself up to Him to receive what he wants to speak or show me. It helps me to be receptive to Him.

Oftentimes I am reminded God is still in control. That helps me to relinquish my worry and concern to him as He commands us to do in 1 Peter 5:7. This calms my soul and spirit. It allows me to be the open vessel God needs to use to get His work done on the Earth.

God may use adversity as an opportunity for many uses. It may be to draw us closer to Him in deepening our faith. This is also a time when God will show Himself strong and His strength. Furthermore, God may want to use adversity to allow us to minister to others in similar situations. Moreover, it is certainly an opportunity for God to build our character and mature us.

Once again we are reminded that God’s thoughts and ways are not like ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). We see that God has many uses for adversity in our lives. This is our opportunity to trust Him even more. It is comforting to know we have a Savior who is always looking out for our best interest… Amen! Love & Blessings!
